Woman faces jail over Facebook poke
A US woman faces up to a year in jail if she is convicted of violating a protection order by poking someone on Facebook.
Shannon Jackson, from Hendersonville, Tennessee, allegedly breached the terms of her order, similar to a restraining order, which stipulates no "telephoning, contacting or otherwise communicating with the petitioner".
She is accused of giving the petitioner a poke on Facebook, the most basic level of communication on the social networking website that allows a user to make themselves known to another without sending a message.
The Tennessean says local police have taken a screengrab of Ms Jackson's computer clearly showing she poked the woman in question.
Shannon Jackson faces a year in prison and a $2,500 fine if found guilty at a court appearance later this month.
