Buta Festival of Azerbaijani Arts presents Isfar Sarabski & Sabina Rakcheyeva concerts in London.

Azerbaijani jazz talent, Montreux Prize-winner Isfar will perform in 7 December at 7:30 pm, at Pushkin House.

Montreux prize-winning pianist Isfar Sarabski reached new heights in his young career in March 2009 when his playing wowed judges and audiences alike at the celebrated Swiss music festival. But for those who had followed his early progress around Baku’s vibrant jazz scene this success was no surprise. Back in 2007, the Jazz Dunyasi (Jazz World) website in the Azeri capital picked up on his performance at a forum for emerging talent, and concluded: “The lively and emotional performance of Isfar was impossible to ignore; he played with great technique and revealed his deep understanding of the music.”

In Oil & Jazz event organised by Buta Festival of Arts you will have a chance to listen Sabina Rakcheyeva besides Isfar Sarabski. The Oil & Jazz event will take place at European Bank (EBRED) in 9 December. The concept is like silent movie in reverse – instead of musicians improvising an accompaniment to a film, a team of “visual DJs” use a computerises image library to produce a visual interpretation of a live jazz performance.

Member of the European Cultural Parliament, winner of “The Best Violinist of the Year” competition in Baku, first recipient of “Artist in Residence” Award from the Fund of Mutual Understanding in New York and a scholarship from the Italian Ministry of Culture, violinist Sabina Rakcheyeva is first ever Azerbaijani to graduate from the prestigious Juilliard School in New York.
